The theme of this month’s meeting will be Creativity in the Space Sector.
We will be joined by artist Helen Schell. Helen is a North East England-based visual artist, space science educator and one of the UK’s leading figures in the emerging field of space art. Her work combines art, science and education to help people understand humanity’s future in space, particularly around living and working on the Moon, Mars and in space habitats. Helen’s best known project is “The Human Spaceship”, an ongoing body of work that explores what it means to be human in space. Through large-scale paintings, installations, artist books and wearable artworks, Schell examines topics such as:
-
Visual perception in altered gravity
-
Living in extreme lunar and Martian environments
-
Human factors in long-duration spaceflight
